Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022: Brian Zbydniewski

JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven University proudly announced the 2022 Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame Class on September 7th featuring nine inductees. In the weeks leading to Belhaven Homecoming, the nine inductees will be profiled with a look at how they impacted Belhaven Athletics and left their mark as Blazers.

2022 Hall of Fame Inductee: Brian Zbydniewski, Belhaven Football (2003-2004).

Former Belhaven quarterback Brian Zbydniewski is set to be inducted into the Belhaven Athletics Hall of Fame this October alongside inductees from the Class of 2022. Zbydniewski was a member of the Belhaven Football team from 2003-2004 and wrapped up his career as one of the most decorated players in program history.

Transferring in from East Central Community College, Zbydniewski quickly made himself known as an elite passer across the NAIA. In his first season in the Green and Gold, he threw for a program-record 3,888 yards and 29 touchdowns during the 2003 season, garnering national attention for his stellar play. He completed 65% of his passes (311-for-480) and averaged an impressive 388.8 yards per game. Zbydniewski earned numerous awards that season, highlighted by a NAIA All-American selection. He was also named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Conference member.

In 2004, he completed 225 passes for 2,643 yards and 13 touchdowns, leading the Blazers to a 4-1 start. He concluded the season averaging just shy of 300 yards a game. His 2,482 yards of total offense during the season ranked him third in that category all-time.

The Blazers' signal-caller finished his two-year career as the program's leader in 300-yard games (16), career passing touchdowns (42), 2nd in career passing yards (6,531), and 4th in completions in a season (225). Zbydniewski currently remains in the Top-5 in all eight of Belhaven's passing records..

Following his time at Belhaven, Zbydniewski enjoyed a lengthy professional career in the AFL. During his rookie season, he was apart of the 2005 league champion Spokane Shock. Zbydniewski finished up his playing career in 2015.
