JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University track and field teams concluded the American Southwest Conference Track and Field Championships on Saturday at the Belhaven Track & Field Complex.
Kelton Kemp and Quoshane Kelly become ASC Champions for Belhaven on the final day of the Championships. In total, the Blazers won four events and had three conference champions. Ben Adams (Javelin), QuoShane Kelly (Discus), and Kelton Kemp (110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles).
On the women's side, Frances Knight competed in the 100m Dash and finished in sixth place with a time of 12.90. Ashaunti Barnes ran the 200 and 400 for the Blazers and came in third place in both events, while Maurissa Winford finished .02 seconds behind Barnes to notch a fourth-place finish. In the 4x100 Meter Relay the Blazers finished in fourth place with a time of 49.92. In the 4x400 Meter Relay, Belhaven finished as a runner up with a time of 4:07.79.
In the field events, Desire Tackett and Neely Brunt competed in the Shot Put and finished with a toss of 9.08m and 8.69m respectively.
On the men's side in the running events, Kelton Kemp led the way coming in first place to become ASC Champion in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles. Fultz finished with a time of 11.37 in the 100 Meters, while Theodore McCarty finished mid pack for the Blazers in the 1500 crossing the finish line at 4:39.45. McCarty also competed in the 5000 and finished with a time of 17:57.49. In the 4x400 Relay, the Blazers finished in third place and concluded the day in the 4x400 with a time of 3:34.34.
In the field events, QuoShane Kelly became an ASC Champion in the Discus, leading the way for the Green and Gold. Charles Wilson rounded out the scoring for the Blazers in the Triple Jump, finishing with a jump of 13.79m, good enough for a third-place finish.
The Blazers concluded the ASC Championships at the Belhaven Track & Field Complex.
