Ben Adams Highlights Day One of the ASC Championships

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven track and field teams competed in four events in day one of the ASC Championships at the Belhaven Track & Field Complex. Ben Adams led the way for the Blazers winning the Men's Javelin to become ASC Champion.  

On the women's side, Desire Tackett and Neely Brunt competed in the Hammer Throw and finished with marks of 31.02m and 21.00m respectively. 

On the men's side, QuoShane Kelly threw the Hammer 38.66m, good enough for a 6th place finish. Master Davis and Jared Archuleta rounded out the scoring for the Blazers coming in 10th and 11th place. In the men's javelin, Ben Adams became a 2x ASC Champion with a throw of 53.68m. Additionally, QuoShane Kelly registered a top four mark with a toss of 50.87m and Markese Lee was the final Blazer to compete in the Javelin. In the running events, Matthew Taylor closed the day running the 10000m and concluded the race with a time of 41:01.28. As a team, the Blazers currently sit in 3rd place with 18 points with McMurry holding onto the lead with 36 points. 

The Blazers will return to action Friday, April 30 for the second day of the American Southwest Conference Championships on the campus of Belhaven University.
