JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven women's tennis team fell at home on senior day to Loyola New Orleans 7-2 on Tuesday afternoon. It's just the second match loss at home this season for Belhaven, who now falls to 13-5 on the year.
Ivanna Echezuria and Jandayia Lubin were the only Blazers' doubles tandem to record a match win. The duo won their match 8-5 at the top doubles slot.
Caroline Terry and Alexandria Furdge were defeated at the No. 2 spot 8-3 while Brittany Keeling and Ellen Scott fell 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Echezuria won the only match for the Blazers with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Echezuria, who was named NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week Tuesday, is perfect on the year in singles with a 14-0 record.
Lubin dropped her match at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1, while Terry fell 6-2, 6-4. Scott fell in straight sets as well at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-0, along with Furdge who lost at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1. Madeline Wurster faltered at No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Belhaven will return to the courts on the road on April 21 at the Ozarks.
