JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven's women's tennis team won their fifth straight match on Saturday afternoon after the Blazers swept Louisiana College 9-0. Belhaven also swept Centenary on Friday afternoon 9-0. The Blazers are now 12-3 on the year and are 7-1 at home.
Against Centenary, the Blazers won three matches by default at No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles, and No. 6 singles. Already with a 3-0 advantage, the Blazers won both doubles matches, dropping just one game. Ivanna Echezuria and Jandayia Lubin won 8-1 and Caroline Terry and Alexandria Furdge won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. The duo are now 8-1 playing together this season, and have won their past six matches.
In singles play, Echezuria and Lubin won 6-0, 6-0. Hannah Daly notched an 8-4 win at No. 3 singles, and Caroline Terry won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
In today's match, Belhaven didn't lose a single game in doubles play. Echezuria and Lubin won handedly at 8-0, along with Terry and Furdge at the No. 2 spot. Maddie Wurster and Jabreann Thigpen also won 8-0, winning their second match playing together this year.
Echezuria finished No. 1 singles winning 6-1, 6-1. She is now a perfect 12-0 on the season. Lubin won 6, 6-0 at the second spot, and Daly put together an 8-2 victory at No. 3 singles.
Terry won 8-1 at No. 4 singles, and Furdge and Wurster both won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Belhaven will next travel to Texas-Tyler and Letourneau on Saturday. The first match is set to begin at 9 a.m.
