JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven women's tennis team win streak is now at three games, after picking up a doubleheader sweep over Rust at home Wednesday afternoon. Belhaven won both matches 6-0, and are now 10-3 on the year.
For the Green and Gold in the first match, it was Caroline Terry and Alexandria Furdge who won 8-0 at the No. 2 doubles spot. Ivanna Echezuria and Jandayia Lubin's match at No. 1 doubles was unfinished. Belhaven won the third doubles match by default.
Terry and Furdge also recorded the only Blazer victories in singles play at the No. 3 and 4 spots by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Echezuria and Lubin's matches went unfinished while the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches were won by default.
Echezuria and Lubin posted an 8-0 victory in doubles play in the second match of the afternoon at the No. 1 spot. The Blazers won the third match by default, and Terry and Furdge's match was unfinished at No. 2 doubles. Terry and Furdge also went unfinished at No. 3 and 4 singles.
Belhaven won the last two singles matches by default. Echezuria improved to 10-0 on the year after a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Lubin won at No. 2 singles 6-0, 5-0 (ret.)
The Green and Gold will host Centenary on Friday at 4 p.m.
