JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven women's tennis team cruised past Tougaloo College at home on Friday afternoon by a score of 7-2. The Blazers improve to 8-3 on the year with the decisive victory.
The Green and Gold got off to a quick start after taking two out of three doubles matches. Ivanna Echezuria and Jandayia Lubin rolled 8-1, while Caroline Terry and Alexandria Furdge cruised to an 8-0 win.
In singles action, Echezuria improved to 9-0 after a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot. Lubin won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0 while Hannah Daly won at No. 3 singles 8-3. Terry and Furdge won at the No. 4 and 5 positions, respectively, by scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0.
Belhaven will return to the courts next Tuesday at 3 p.m. against Rust College.
