Men's Tennis Defeats Huntingdon and Blue Mountain

NEW ALBANY, Miss. – Belhaven men's tennis picked up its first two wins of the season on Saturday after taking care of business against both Huntingdon and Blue Mountain on the road. The Blazers are now back to .500 on the year at 2-2 after the two wins today. The Green and Gold defeated Huntingdon 7-2, and swept Blue Mountain 9-0.

The Blazers led 2-1 after the first three rounds of doubles against Huntingdon. Rene Ramos and Joan Soler won at No. 1 doubles 8-2. Claudio Adolfssen and Travous Wilson dropped the No. 2 doubles match, 8-3. Sebastian Barrientos and Ivan Alberto Kerkoc held on to win at No. 3 doubles 8-6.

Ramos remains perfect on the year in singles play after winning handily 6-2, 6-0 at the number one spot. Kerkoc won at No. 2 singles in a third-set tiebreaker by a score of 2-6, 6-2, 10-2. Barrientos fell at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-4.

Soler won at No. 4 singles with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory. Owen Taylor won his first match of the season at No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-4. Adolfssen won at No. 6, 8-4.

In the second match against Blue Mountain, the Blazers never lost a match. Ramos/Adolfssen won at No. 1 doubles, 8-5. Kerkoc/Barrientos took care of business at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and Devonte Thomas and Trevor Ramagos won at No. 3, 8-3.

Ramos won again easily at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2. Owen Taylor notched a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles, while Adolfssen won yet again, this time at the No. 3 spot 6-1, 6-4.

Judson Watson won at No. 4 singles in a third-set tiebreaker. Watson lost the first set 6-4, but won the second set 6-3, and the tiebreaker.

Dylan Throgmorton won at the No. 5 slot 6-1, 6-2 and Ramagos rolled at No. 6, 6-1, 6-2.

Belhaven will return to action next Saturday at home in a doubleheader against Tougaloo and Delta State. The matches are set for 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. starts.
