JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven women's tennis team faltered in their season opener at home to Mobile on Friday afternoon in non-conference play, falling 6-3 to the Rams. 

Ivanna Echezuria and Natalia Lopez tabbed the lone victory in doubles action for the Green and Gold, picking up a win the No. 1 doubles slot. Belhaven fell in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, 8-2 and 8-5, respectively.

In singles play, the Blazers posted wins at both the No. 2 and No. 4 positions. Echezuria registered a decisive 6-1, 6-2 victory, while Mary Lichlyter collected a solid 6-4, 6-4 win. 

The Green and Gold will return to action next Friday, Feb. 17, taking on Rhodes College in Memphis at 4 pm.
