JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Tennis team defeated Tougaloo Friday afternoon at Parham Bridges, 7-2.
The Blazers (5-3) swept Doubles play for their first three points in the match.
AnneMarie Kimball and
Natalia Lopez swept No. 1 Doubles over Val Bonds and Tara Rowell, 8-0.
In No. 2 Doubles,
Ivanna Echezuria and
Mary Lichlyter followed suit with a similar 8-0 shutout victory over Tymeka Hunter and Carmilya Jackson.
Brittany Keeling and
Jennifer Smith wrapped up Doubles with an 8-4 victory.
In Singles, Echezuria defeated Val Bonds 6-3, 6-0, while Lichlyter clinched the match for the Green and Gold, defeating Tara Rowell 6-1, 6-2.
Caroline Terry and
Ellen Scott also collected victories in Singles. Terry defeated Tymeka Hunter 6-2, 6-1, while Scott earned Belhaven's seventh point defeating Jaslyn Barrow 6-3, 6-1.
Belhaven will remain at home to resume ASC East play on Wednesday as the Blazers take on LeTourneau. First serve is slated for noon at Parham Bridges.
