Soccer to Play First Games in Belhaven Bowl Stadium Thursday

JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven women's and men's soccer teams will play their first games inside the new Belhaven Bowl Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 6 versus LeTourneau University. The women will get things started at 5 p.m. and the men will follow with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Located in the heart of the Belhaven University campus, the historic Belhaven Bowl has undergone a $4 million transformation, including installation of a custom turf playing surface, comfortable chairback seating for 1200 and a state of-the-art Daktronics video board. In this first season in the Bowl Stadium, seating will be complimentary (free) for all fans – students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, friends and neighbors.  No tickets needed!  Home seating is located on the west side of the stadium and visitor seating is located on the east side of the stadium.

The Blazers women's soccer team enters Thursday's match versus LeTourneau with a 3-6 overall season mark. But the ladies have won two of their past three matches, including a 4-1 victory over local rival Millsaps College.

LeTourneau currently has a 3-5-1 record and an 0-2 mark on the road. The Yellow Jackets started off the season with three straight victories, but have yet to win a game since.

Belhaven is leading the all-time series over LeTourneau, 2-1. The Yellow Jackets won the most recent matchup, defeating the Blazers 2-0 on Oct. 10 of last year.

The Blazers men's soccer team owns a 2-6-1 season mark heading into Thursday's game. The Green and Gold boast a 2-2 record in conference play but most recently dropped consecutive games to non-conference foes Millsaps and Berry College.

LeTourneau is currently at 4-4-2 overall with a 1-2 conference mark. The Yellow Jackets are coming off of a 6-0 loss at home versus Texas Tyler.

Belhaven leads the all-time series 4-2, including a 2-1 overtime win over LeTourneau last season.

Following Thursday's action, the Blazers soccer teams will host East Texas Baptist inside Belhaven Bowl Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 8.
