Blazers Set for Home Opener

JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Women's Soccer team prepares for its home opener on Saturday night at the Belhaven Bowl against Asbury University. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start.

The Blazers (0-1-0) will take on Asbury University for the first time in series history on Saturday night.

Located in Wilmore, Kentucky, 16 miles southwest of Lexington, the Eagles (1-2-0) play in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC). Asbury completed the 2014 campaign with an 11-8 overall record and were runners-up in the KIAC Championship.

The Blazers have been unable to win any matches against the state of Kentucky. In three matches in program history, the Blazers are 0-3 and have been outscored 13-0 in those matches. The last match against the state of Kentucky was on September 6, 2003, when the Blazers fell to Georgetown (Ky.), 3-0.

However, the Blazers will look to continue their success in home openers. In the last nine seasons, the Blazers are 8-0-1 in home openers, with a 12-4-1 overall record in program history.
