JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Men's Soccer team travels to Lexington, Kentucky for the Transylvania Soccer Showcase on Saturday and Monday.
The Blazers (0-0-0) will travel up to the state of Kentucky to face off against two opponents from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Hanover Panthers and the Transylvania Pioneers.
Belhaven will take on the Panthers Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., followed by the Pioneers on Labor Day at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday's match against Hanover (0-1-0) will be the first meeting between the two schools, and it will be also the first meeting for Belhaven against the state of Indiana.
Even though Belhaven and Transylvania (0-0-1) will meet for the first time in series history, the Blazers are no strangers to institutions from the state of Kentucky. Belhaven will play in its 14th match, and they are 8-3-2 against institutions from the Bluegrass State.
The Blazers will start the season on the road thanks to Tuesday night's match vs. William Carey being postponed due to rain. Since 2005, Belhaven has won seven out of their last 10 opening matches. Overall, the Blazers are 21-10-1 in season openers.
