PINEVILLE, La. – The Belhaven Women's tennis team picked up a pair of 9-0 wins Saturday afternoon, defeating LSU Shreveport before topping Louisiana College.
In the first match, the Blazers defeated LSU Shreveport in seven matches on the court. In doubles action, the team of
AnneMarie Kimball and
Stephanie Smith defeated Alessa Ash and Heather McCutchen 8-1.
Brittany Keeling and
Ellen Scott also picked up an 8-2 win over Hannah Ingerson and Kelsey Ellender.
In singles play, all five Blazers to play won in two sets. Kimball,
Mary Lichlyter and
Rachel Jefcoat all won their matches with scores of 6-0, 6-0.
The Blazers also picked up two points by default in the match as LSU Shreveport only had five players available for the match.
In the second match of the day, Belhaven didn't drop a game, winning all three doubles matches 8-0 before cruising through all six of the singles matches with 6-0, 6-0 victories.
The Blazers will now get ready for the Auburn University – Montgomery Invitational tournament to be held March 6-8.
