JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven men's soccer team is set for the opening round of the NCCAA National Tournament, which begins Monday against No. 7 seed Chowan University.
The No. 3 seed Blazers (13-3-1) earned one of the three top seeds in the National Tournament, which gives them a day off between games in pool play.
Chowan, located in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, is
11-7-3 in NCAA Division II competition and heads to Kissimmee after winning the NCCAA South Region Championship.
This will be the first time the Blazers face Chowan in program history. It it just the third game for the Blazers against an institution from the state of North Carolina, with Belhaven holding a 1-1 record.
The last time Belhaven squared off against an institution from North Carolina came over 14 years ago, when the Blazers faced Lees-McRae on October 14, 1991, earning a 7-0 victory.
The Blazers enter the NCCAA National Tournament with two National Players of the Week this season.
Lucas Talaveira-Befi, who has a team high 13 goals and six assists this season, was named the first national player of the week in Belhaven's NCAA era on September 29.
Cillian Thompson, who has scored 12 goals with three assists in 2015, earned the second player of the week honor on November 3.

7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT start.
