JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University Football team is set to host cross-town rival Mississippi College in the Blazers home opener on Saturday at H.T. Newell Field. The Blazers (1-0) enter are set to kick off with the Choctaws (0-0) at 7 p.m.
Series HistoryBelhaven trails Mississippi College in the series history with one win in the previous four games of the series between the two programs. However, that win came in Belhaven's last meeting with the Choctaws, a 35-31 victory on September 10, 2011.

Mumme Off To Blazing StartBelhaven head coach
Hal Mumme implemented his Air Raid offense successfully against Texas College, helping the Blazers to jump out to a 29-0 lead just 8:45 into the first quarter against Texas College.
Belhaven's 44-6 win is Mumme's largest win in a debut with his programs in his 23 years as a head coach. Mumme's largest win prior to last Saturday in a debut came when Mumme's Kentucky Wildcats team defeated Louisville 38-24 in 1997.

Four Years RunningGreg Livingston's three touchdown receptions last Saturday was the first three receiving touchdown performance from a Blazer since Cordario Calvin caught three TDs vs Lindsey Wilson on Sept. 18, 2010.

Conner Preston was sure to spread out the ball in his debut with the Blazers, connecting with eight different receivers on 36 completions for 305 yards. Preston found seven of his receivers multiple times, including five receivers at least four times.
Can't Touch ThisThe Blazers Offensive line pitched a shutout in its season opener as the collective group kept the Texas College defense out of the backfield and did not allow the Steers to record a sack in the game. The last time that Belhaven held an opponent without a sack was October 20, 2012 at Lindsey Wilson.
Four Score and 133Greg Livingston accounted for four touchdowns and 133 yards of total offense in his debut with the Blazers in the season opener. Livingston finished with 10 catches in the game, his longest totaling 22 yards. His three TD catches were 4,18, and 2 yards respectively. He also added a 39-yard punt return for his fourth touchdown.
Getting After the QBThe Blazers new 3-3-5 defense made a big impact in its debut with the Green and Gold last week.
Josh Creech's defense put pressure on the Steers offense, resulting in 12 tackles for a loss, six sacks, a fumble recovery and an interception.
Garrett Osborne led the way with seven tackles, including three for a loss.

Stopping the RunTexas College finished with a net rushing yardage of -27 yards in the season opener. It was the first time that a Belhaven defense held an opponent to negative yardage since the Blazers held Faulkner to -3 yards rushing on October 4, 2008.
A Defensive DreamJustin Munoz completed a defender's dream on Saturday, scoring a touchdown for the Blazers in the first quarter. Munoz had four tackles and two sacks, but his biggest play resulted in six points scooping a fumble and returning it for a touchdown.
