Blazers Fall 4-0 to Lady Badgers

Box Score MOBILE, Ala. - The Belhaven women's soccer team fell for the second time in three days on Friday evening, suffering a 4-0 loss to former conference nemesis Spring Hill College. Belhaven now has a two-day road trip in Texas before beginning Southern States Athletic Conference play.

"We lost an unfortunate contest to a good team," Head Coach Josue Sabillon said. "Tonight could have been much worse, but we're still frustrated with the loss."

Hannah Michael started the scoring in the 7th minute of the game before teammate Courtney Harlan added Spring Hill's second goal just two minutes later. On both occasions, Maha Maarouf was credited with the assist, earning her first two of the season.

The Blazers (2-3-0) went to the locker room with a managable 2-0 deficit, but less than a minute into the second half, the Lady Badgers found the back of the net for the third time. Harlan scored the final goal in the 82nd minute, sinking the Blazers by a final of 4-0.

Senior goalie Nicole Walsh picked up an even dozen saves, giving her 40 through Belhaven's first five games. Spring Hill used two different keepers, but Maggie Dalessio recorded the team's only save.

The Lady Badgers outshot their guests 34-5,including a 17-2 mark on goal. Spring Hill (1-1-0) also took the edge in corner kicks by a total of 7-0 en route to their first victory of the year.

Belhaven will return to action next weekend, when they journey to take on East Texas Baptist University and the University of Texas at Tyler. Friday's match against ETBU's Tigers is set to begin at 5:00 pm.
