HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Belhaven men's and women's tennis teams saw action on Friday afternoon verses Southern States Athletic Conference foe William Carey. The men's tennis team defeated the Crusaders 7-2, while the women's team bested the Crusaders 6-3.

The women improved to 9-5 (3-1 SSAC) on the season after knocking off the 19th ranked Crusaders. This victory marked the Blazer's third consecutive win.

In women's singles, the Blazer's No. 2 Ainsley Wright started things off with 6-3, 6-2 win over A. Baver; Katie Campbell continued the Blazers hot start with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over L. Lorinposes. In the No. 5, Mary Lichlyter defeated M. Boss 6-0, 6-1, and the Elizabeth Chrestman finished things off with an impressive 8-1 route over H. Bradford.

In women's doubles, Ainsley Wright and Katie Campbell teamed up to defeat Lorinposes and Accorsi 8-6 on the No. 2 court. This effort was followed by the Blazer duo of Rachel Jeffcoat and Mary Lichlyter's 8-1 victory over Boss and Bradford.

The Belhaven men's tennis team (11-3, 4-0 SSAC) has notched four consecutive victories with their defeat of SSAC rival. The 12th ranked Crusaders suffered their first SSAC loss on the season.

In men's singles, Andre Borghi started things off with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over R. Keppler. In the No. 3 spot, the Blazer's Jefferson Nino defeated T. Boudin 6-4, 2-6, 6-2; Daniel Prado followed in the No. 4 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Fosse. David Mejia knocked off Secchi 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the No. 5, and Enrico Patriarca finished things off in the No. 6 court with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Fresse.

In men's doubles, the duo of Borghi and Patriarca knocked off Boudin and Fosse 8-2 in the No. 2 court, and the team of Nino and Prado defeated Mueller and Secchi 8-5 in the final doubles match of the evening.

The Blazer men's and women's tennis teams will host Loyola University in SSAC play. Matches are set for 9:00 AM in the Belhaven Tennis Complex.
