JACKSON, Miss.- The Belhaven women's tennis team improved to 8-5 on the season after knocking off Rust College 9-0 in a double header on Saturday afternoon. The Blazers swept the Bearcats in all courts in singles and only gave up one set point in doubles.

In match one, the Blazer's Stephanie Smith, Mary Lichlyter, and Rachel Jeffcoat all picked up 6-0, 6-0 victories. The Blazers Brittany Keeling, Ellen Scott, and Ashley McLendon notched 8-0 victories.

In doubles, Stephanie Smith and Ashley McLendon defeated J. Lyons and S. Jackson 8-0 on the No. 1 court. On the No. 2 court, Rachel Jeffcoat and Mary Lichlyter teamed up to defeat the Bearcat's T. Wood and P. Ballentine 8-0. In the No. 3, Brittany Keeling and Katie Campbell defeated D. Johnson and D. Daisy 8-0.

In match two, the Blazers swept the Bearcats in singles. Belhaven's Stephanie Smith started things off with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over J. Lyons; Mary Lichlyter defeated S. Jackson 6-0, 6-0; Rachel Jeffcoat knocked off T. Woods 6-0, 6-0; Brittany Keeling defeated P. Ballentine 8-0' Ellen Scott bested D. Johnson 8-0; and Ashley McLendon also defeated D. Daisy 8-0.

In doubles, the Blazer's Rachel Jeffcoat teamed up with Mary Lichlyter to defeat Lyons and Jackson 8-0 on the No. 1 court. The Blazer Duo of Smith and McLendon knocked off Woods and Ballentine 8-1 while Brittany Keeling and Katie Campbell defeated Johnson and Daisy 8-0 in the final doubles match of the day.

Belhaven will be back in action on Friday March 21st at William Carey University for a Southern States Athletic Conference contest at 3:00 PM.
