"We hit the ball as hard as we possibly could today, and I was very proud of the approach that every player took at the plate," Head Coach Kevin Griffin said. "If the middle of our lineup hits well, it makes us a very dangerous team."

Ginger Lonergan received the start for the Blazers, lasting five innings and allowing two runs on four hits. She added three strikeouts en route to her fourth victory of the young season. Point starter Rachel Mixon allowed seven runs on six hits through four innings, helping the Blazers cruise to an easy victory.

"Our pitching staff was great throughout the entire tournament," Griffin said. "Ginger stepped up big for us and only allowed one run through 15 innings."

Belhaven's bats exploded for 11 runs to continue their recent hot streak, as six Blazers contributed base hits and seven drove in a run. Emily Todd, Josie Porter, and Jessica Paris each posted multi-hit games, while each of the latter two hit a home run to aid the Blazers to their fourth win of the Tournament.

The Blazers turned to senior Katy Adair in the circle against Freed-Hardeman for the final game of the Arctic Blast. The Houston senior allowed four hits, recorded three strikeouts, and picked up her second victory of the season in the shutout.

"Katy is nursing an injury, but she wanted to pitch and did a great job fighting through the pain," Griffin said. "I can't wait to see how well she throws when she is fully healthy because she is very good right now."

Belhaven's offense again came through in a big way, picking up their third consecutive B game by way of the mercy rule. Porter again paced the attack, going 3 for 3 and driving in a run. Haley Yasses and Dominique Corona each had two hits, while Corona and Todd each drove in a pair.

Belhaven returns to action on Monday, when they will host NCAA Division-I Alcorn State in an afternoon doubleheader at McLeod Field. First pitch is slated for 1:00 pm.

"Our goal is to be at 22-2 heading into our spring break," Griffin said. "If we can accomplish that, we have set ourselves up for a great start heading into the bulk of our conference play."
