Box Score PINEVILLE, La. – The Belhaven football team couldn't overcome a relentless Louisiana College offense and defense, falling to the Wildcats 38-7 on Saturday night in Pineville, La. Louisiana College sacked Blazer quarterbacks 10 times while the offense racked up 400 total yards.
After a couple of stalled drives by both offenses in the first quarter, Louisiana College (1-0) got things rolling on its third drive of the night. Following a punt by Belhaven's
Alonso Acosta, the Wildcats took over on their own 25 and began to move ball down the field. Quarterback Alonzo Bellamy found wide receiver Kyle Galyon for 22 yards and a roughing the passer penalty tacked on 15 more. Galyon eventually found the end zone on another 14 yard catch that gave Louisiana College a lead it would never relinquish.
Running back Ryan Montague crossed the goal line for the next two Louisiana College touchdowns on three and eight yard runs in the second quarter. Late in the half the Wildcats went up 28-0 on a pass from Bellamy to running back Reggie Sims with 21 seconds to play in the half.
The Wildcats tacked on seven more points with 5:31 remaining in the third quarter on a touchdown pass by Easton Melancon, before Belhaven (1-1) scored for the only time on the night.

Darrell Williams eventually put the ball at the Louisiana College one yard line. Williams capped the drive with a one yard plunge into the end zone.
Louisiana College closed the game with an Adan Olivares 21 yard field goal with 6:04 to play.
"We played a very good team tonight in Louisiana College and we had a tough time slowing them down," said Belhaven Head Coach Joe Thrasher. "However, I'm proud of our guys for playing hard all the way to the end. We were also able to get a number of young players a lot of experience which will help us down the road. We will go back to work this week and prepare for another tough team in University of the Cumberlands."
One bright spot on the night was junior running back
Aaron Spikes, who saw his first extended playing time of the season. Spikes took last year off to recover from an injury, but the effects didn't show on Saturday. Spikes carried the ball 18 times for 73 yards and averaged 4.1 yards per carry. Fellow running back
Laderick Turner also played well, rushing for 52 yards on nine carries.

Brian Ensminger and completed five passes for 48 yards.
Darrell Williams played the second half and completed four passes for 46 yards.
Lamiquell Roberts led the Blazers in receiving with two catches for 45 yards. As a team, Belhaven gained 228 yards on offense with the majority coming on the ground (143).
Defensively, Darrius Wren had eight tackles including a sack followed Riley Steffek-Riojas with seven tackles and a fumble recovery.
Brennan Dunklin picked off his third pass of the season and nearly had a fourth, but it was negated by a Belhaven penalty.
Louisiana College was led by running back D.J. Palmer who ran for 71 yards on seven carries. Ryan Montague scored a pair of touchdowns on 13 carries to go along with 59 yards. Alonzo Bellamy completed 15 passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns. His favorite target proved to be Kyle Galyon who reeled in five catches for 67 yards and one touchdown. Wildcat runners combined for 243 yards on the ground.
Daniel Hebert had six tackles and two sacks while Preston Thibeaux notched five tackles and two sacks for the Wildcats defense.
Belhaven will look to regroup next Saturday at home against University of the Cumberlands (KY). The kickoff from H.T. Newell Field is slated for 6:00 PM.
