Game Notes
JACKSON, Miss.-The Belhaven football team will embark on a three game road trip starting Saturday in a Mid-South Conference West Division game at Campbellsville University (KY). The Blazers are in a three game slump and need a victory this weekend to get their season back on track. Last year Belhaven entered the Campbellsville contest under very similar circumstances and a 70-28 win by the Blazers changed the course of the year.
Belhaven couldn't slow down Cumberland University (TN) last weekend in a 41-31 Mid-South Conference West Division contest at H.T. Newell Field. The Bulldogs racked up 564 yards of total offense and scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory.

Quick Stat: Running back
Laderick Turner and quarterback
Darrell Williams both turned in solid performances on offense last week. Turner ran for 113 yards on 12 carries that included a touchdown. Turner averaged 9.4 yards every time he touched the ball. Williams completed 16 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns, including one to
Lamiquell Roberts and one to wide receiver
Deuce Coon. As a team, Saturday's performance netted 363 yards, with 164 coming on the ground. It was the best overall performance by the offense to this point in the season.
Player to Watch: Senior defensive back
Justin Mims delivered one of the best performances of his Blazer career last week. Mims, a native of Albany, GA, was a force on defense Saturday against Cumberland (TN), recording a single game career high 15 total tackles including 12 solo stops with one for a loss. Mims leads the Blazers this season with 30 tackles, including 27 solo stops. Mims will need to be factor in Saturday's game for the defense to slow down the Tigers.
Tale of the Tape: Both offenses are very similar and yardage produced by both teams back that up, especially on the ground. Belhaven is averaging 286 yards per game in total offense while Campbellsville has produced an average of 331 yards per game. The Blazers have a slight edge in the running attack at 136 yards per contest while the Tigers generate 125 yards per afternoon. However, Campbellsville has been a bit more effective through the air with 205.7 passing yards per game. Belhaven comes into the weekend averaging 150 yards per game. Key to the Contest: With the offense beginning to find its stride, playing well on defense will be a key for Belhaven to get a win. If the Blazers can create some turnovers and setup the offense in good field position, it not only will produce prime scoring opportunities but keep the explosive Tiger attack on the sidelines.
