MOBILE, Ala. – The Belhaven women's tennis team got back in the win column with a gritty 6-3 victory over the University of Mobile on Tuesday afternoon. Belhaven took two of three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches to pick up their third conference win of the season.
The Lady Rams took the early 1-0 lead with an 8-1 win at first doubles to kick off the match.
Ashley McLendon and
Katherine Campbell have had the unfortunate task of playing some of the highest ranked doubles units from across the country.
The youngest doubles combination on the Belhaven team has struggled a bit in the early going, but Belhaven coach
Levi Patton says the two are on the verge of breaking out in a big way.
Indi Mire and
Natalia Krier have been steady at second doubles all season for Belhaven and continued to provide results with an 8-2 win.
Shelley Munn and
Savannah Zachry also rebounded from an exhausting match on Monday with an 8-2 win at third doubles.
McLendon and Mire were downed at the top two spots in singles, but Belhaven swept the rest of the lineup for the midseason win. All four Belhaven wins in singles were straight-set victories.
