Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -The Belhaven women's soccer team suffered its second consecutive Southern States Athletic Conference loss after a tough bout with the University of Mobile on Saturday. With the 2-1 loss; the Blazers drop to 8-4 overall and 2-4 in SSAC play.
The Blazers found themselves in a hole early with the Rams notching their first goal only eight minutes into the contest. Mobile (6-6-1, 4-2 SSAC) outshot Belhaven 21-10 on the afternoon reached double figures in shots during both halves. Katie Compton tallied both goals for Mobile, adding her second score in the 18th minute.
Despite the tough outing, Belhaven collectively played well. "This was actually one of our better games as a unit," said Belhaven Head Coach
Josue Sabillon. "We allowed them to pick their spots and get good shots, but we fought back and had them on their heels."
Senior
Jordan Organ put in the lone Blazer goals in the 31st minute with a 25-yard rocket. It marked Organ's 6th goal on the season.
"Jordan did an amazing job being aggressive and putting us on the board we her goal", said Sabillon.
Goalkeeper,
Isabelle Granlund recorded eight saves and was a key factor in keeping the Blazers in the game.
"Isabelle had a very good game and was an effective communicator for us today," said Sabillon. She made some key saves at crucial moments of the game."
After a bye week, the Blazers will host the Bethel University Wildcats on October 18th.
