Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The Belhaven men's soccer team rolled to their ninth straight win on Saturday thanks to a 4-0 decision at 19th ranked University of Mobile. The Blazers, ranked third in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll, notched one first half goal and pulled away in the second with three more shots that found the back of the net. Saturday's contest was the first meeting between the schools since the 2012 NAIA National Championship game.
Lucas Befi lifted Belhaven (10-2-1, 6-0-0 SSAC) into the lead in the sixth minute with his fourth goal of the season.
Tom Gavin threaded a pass through a pair of Mobile defenders onto the waiting foot of Befi, who planted the strike past goalie Xavier Audergon into the back of the net.
Mobile (7-4-0, 4-2-0 SSAC) kept the deficit at 1-0 until the Blazers pressed the offensive attack again in the second half.
David Major notched his fourth goal of the year in the 58th minute, increasing Belhaven's lead to 2-0. Major was initially denied a goal when his header attempt was saved by Audergon, but he alertly collected the rebound and tucked the ball into the corner of the goal.
Belhaven capped the match with a pair of goals in the 73rd and 75th minutes.
Eduardo Cruz claimed his team leading sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick following a Mobile foul that occurred in the box.
Jermaine Metz then fired a shot into the corner of the net from 18 yards away after
Nasser Charif found him with a pass and in the process earned the assist.
"It was great to get three points and an SSAC win on the road today," Belhaven Head Coach Brian McMahon said. "The University of Mobile is a fantastic team and I'm certain we will see them again at some point this season."
The Blazers outshot the Rams 24-8 and held the edge in corner kicks 8-7.

Carl Blundell played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save to earn the win.
James Hayley had two shot attempts off the bench for Mobile. Audergon logged all 90 minutes, allowing four goals while making six saves.
Belhaven has a bye week before taking the field again at home against Bethel University (TN) on October 18th.
