#10 William Carey Blanks Blazers

Box Score HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Belhaven women's soccer team (9-6, 3-6 SSAC) suffered their second shutout in as many games on Friday evening after a 6-0 loss to Southern States Athletic Conference rival William Carey University. The Crusaders (12-4, 9-0 SSAC) remained unbeaten in conference play and have now won 10 in a row.

"We knew we were going to see a very good team tonight," Head Coach Josue Sabillon said. "This is disheartening, but we can't afford to look back on it."

Crusader junior forward Claudia Saucedo took over on Senior Night, scoring half the game's goals before the half. When Emmaleigh Davis, last week's SSAC Offensive Player of the Week, found the net just before the half, the scoreboard saw the hosts leading 4-0 at intermission.

"She is quick, hard to contain, and very technical," Sabillon said. "We were able to slow her down for a while, but special players eventually make you pay."

The second half saw Macie Foreman and Johanna Hubinette add a goal apiece for tenth-ranked William Carey.

Belhaven goalkeeper Isabelle Granlund tallied five saves before Regan Atkins took her place in the net and contributed two saves of her own. Crusader counterpart Linfah Jones tallied three saves in the shutout.

The Blazers were outshot for just the fifth time this season, as William Carey won the battle 29-6. In addition to taking the advantage in corner kicks 2-1, the Crusaders allowed just three Belhaven shots on goal.

Belhaven returns to action next Friday to square off with another SSAC rival in the form of the Faulkner Eagles. The match will be played in Montgomery, Alabama and is set to begin at 1:00 pm.

"One of our goals was to make the playoffs and we are in good position to do that, but we have to play well in our final two games," Sabillon said. "Faulkner is now our biggest game."
