Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Belhaven volleyball team dropped to 8-19 on the season after being swept by NCAA Division-II opponent University of Arkansas at Monticello Thursday night. The Cotton Blossoms (12-13) victory came by final set scores of 25-9, 25-20, and 25-17.
"Our girls did well, but we couldn't get an attack on the third ball," Head Coach
Justin Dee said. "That ended up costing us the match tonight."
Taylor Hall found her rhythm and paced the Blazers with six kills while hitting an impressive .600 for the match.
Gabriella Zorzoli contributed 11 assists, and Katie Owen's 18 digs were best on the team for the second night in a row. While the visiting Blazers led 18-8 in the second set, their hosts proved to be too much to handle.
Belhaven's final Southern States Athletic Conference match of the season will come against Spring Hill College, the SSAC's regular season champions. The match is set to begin at 10:00 Saturday morning at Tougaloo College.
"We will regroup and have a quick turnaround," Dee said. "We want to surprise Spring Hill."
