Top Moments of 2025: Blazers Volleyball Sweeps Home-Opener

JACKSON, Miss. - As 2025 draws to a close, Belhaven Athletics is proud to recount some of the many moments displayed by Blazers student-athletes and teams that made this calendar year one to remember. Over the remainder of the year, multiple moments will be recounted, featuring each of Belhaven's athletics programs.

TOP MOMENTS OF 2025: BLAZERS VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER VS. MCMURRY AND CENTENARY

JACKSON, MISS. — 
The Belhaven Volleyball team turned in dominant performances at Charles R. Rugg Arena on Saturday afternoon, securing two straight-set victories against McMurry (25-21, 25-15, 25-19) and Centenary (LA).

Match One: Belhaven 3, McMurry 0

The Blazers (3-6) began the day with a competitive first set that saw eight tied scores. With the set tied at 17, Belhaven went on a 3-0 run. McMurry (5-2) fought back, trailing 20-19, and later tying the set at 21. The Blazers finished the set on a decisive 4-0 run to win the opening set.

The Blazers set the tone in the second set, leading by as many as ten points in two separate instances, before winning the set by double-digits.

Continuing where they left off in the second set, the Blazers went on a 8-0 run and led 12-1. McMurry would answer with a rally, trailing by as few as four points, but Belhaven's presence at the net was too strong, and won the final set 25-19.

Kylarr Martin led both teams with seven kills while Megan LaCour and Cami Davis each recorded five. Davis also led the team with an impressive .833 hitting percentage on six attacks.Miriam Ateca and Allie Dahlman each had 10 assists.

Match Two: Belhaven 3, Centenary 0

The Blazers (4-6) continued their winning ways with another straight-set victory. Belhaven allowed no more than 15 points in any set, outscoring Centenary 56-20.

Megan LaCour led both teams with 11 kills on 19 attacks, while Jordyn Crenshaw had seven kills on just nine attacks. Kayla Robinson led the team with 13 digs, while both Miriam Ateca (17) and Allie Dahlman (10) each tallied double-digit assist for the second consecutive game.

The Blazers ultimately finished the season with a 12-21 record and advanced to the CCS Playoffs for the second consecutive season. The Blazers won at least 12 matches in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2016-17.
