Jackson, MS- The Belhaven men's and women's tennis teams swept Southern States Athletic Conference opponent Emmanuel College this past Saturday. The Blazer men, ranked 17th in the latest Coach's Top 25 poll, defeated the Lions 8-1 while the Blazer women, ranked 26th in the poll, notched an 8-1 victory over the Lions.

In the singles competition on the men's side Belhaven topped Emmanuel in five of the six matches. Gabriel Prado won his match 4-6, 6-4 and 7-6 while Jefferson Nino took his match in two sets 6-1, 6-0. Daniel Duarte turned in match results of 6-3, 6-1 while David Mejia won 6-0, 6-1 and Daniel Prado defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-1. The Blazers won all three of the doubles competitions with Nicolas Osorio /Gabriel Prado taking match one 8-6. Daniel Duarte/ Jefferson Nino claimed match two 8-4 and Daniel Prado / David Mejia snatched match three 8-1.

On the women's side, the Blazers didn't drop any singles competitions to the Lions. Ana Arreygue won her match 6-3, 6-1 while Indi Mire defeated her opponent in two sets 6-4, 6-1. Savannah Zachery topped her opponent 6-2, 6-4 while Rachel Earnheart beat her opponent in three sets 6-2, 0-6, and 6-2. Mary Carole Kiewit won her match 6-1, 6-1 while Shelly Munn rounded out the singles matches topping her competition 6-0 and 6-1. In the doubles competition, the Blazers took two of three matches with Indi Mire/ Natalia Keir winning their match 8-1. Ana Arreygue/Rachel Earnheart and Shelly Munn/Savannah Zachary claimed an 8-2 victory.
