Mobile, AL- On day two of the “Classic on the Hill,” hosted by Spring Hill College the Belhaven women's soccer team fell at the hands of Lyon College (Ark.) 3-0. The Blazers see their record evened at 1-1 in the tournament an on the season having defeated Texas College on Friday 4-0. Lyon College (Ark.) picked up their first win of the season moving their record to 1-0.
Defense was written all over this game as the first goal didn't come until late in the first half at the 35th minute mark off the foot of the Scots Creeia Nuck. The Blazers found themselves down 1-0 at halftime. Lyon's next goal came in the 69th minute as Creeia Nuck landed the ball in the back of the net while Cethlinn Cunningham assisted her. Brina Siddiq assisted Creeia Nuck with her third goal of the contest giving her a hat trick in the 87th minute of the match. The goal would be the final of the game as the Blazers couldn't notch a goal giving the Scots a 3-0 win.
The Blazers had five shot attempts in the game with three being on-goal attempts. Lyon College was able to turn in eleven shot attempts, five of which were on goal with three finding their mark.
Christin Kaim attempted two shots for the Blazers both of which were on goal shots.
Nicole Williams had the Blazers only other on goal shot attempt in the contest. Creeia Nuck of Lyon College scored all three goals for the Steers by means of five shot attempts. Anja Klotzle attempted four shots while Melissa Sanchez had the only other shot attempt for the Steers.
Nicole Walsh started in the net clocking in all 90 minutes for the Blazers giving up three goals and earning two saves. Stephanie Spiteri started in the net for the Steers as she did not allow any goals while turning in three saves in the contest.
The Blazers will return to action on September 9th at Mississippi College. Game time is slated for 4:00PM.
