Mobile, AL- The Belhaven men's soccer team kicked off the 2011 season with a shutout over Texas College 11-0 in the Spring Hill College “Classic on the Hill,” tournament Friday evening. The Blazers open up the season with a 1-0 season record while, Texas College has their season record drop to 0-1.
The Blazers didn't waste any time with Aaron McLaughlin turning in the first goal of the contest in the 2nd minute. Less than four minutes ticked off the clock before the Blazers struck again in the 6th minute as
Felipe Ferreira scored off a rebounded shot. In the 22nd minute
Alexander Wallin and Guilhereme Brandao assisted
Achille Campion with the Blazers next goal giving them a 3-0 advantage.
Mabior Yai punted it in for the Blazers next score at the 30th minute with
Will Monsour gaining an assist. Yai then assisted Monsour a minute later for a goal giving the Blazers a 5-0 lead. Guihereme Branadao turned in the Blazers next goal at the 35th minute mark.
Will Monsour rounded out the first half scoring out with another goal in the 38th minute as the Blazers took a commanding lead into the halftime break.
Michael Colvin then got in on the action scoring the Blazers first goal of the second half in the 51st minute. In the 58th, minute the Blazers next goal came off the foot of
Will Monsour giving him a hat trick with his third goal of the contest.

Achille Campion in the 82nd minute with the Blazers next goal giving Belhaven a 10-0 advantage. Belhaven tacked on one last goal in the 88th minute of the contest as
Johnny Saye planted one in the back of the net off an assist by
Sean McCullough. Saye's goal rounded out an 11-0 win for the Blazers.
Belhaven outshot the Steers 26-1. As a team, the Blazers turned in 26 shot attempts fifteen of which came from on-goal shots. The Blazers only gave up one shot the entire contest.
Will Mousour led the Blazers with three goals from five shot attempts followed by Campion with a pair of goals. Eight different Blazers tallied in one goal apiece; Yai, Brandao, McCulloguh , Ferreira, Colvin, Marquis, and Saye.
Texas College turned in only one shot attempt the entire contest off the foot of Jesus Segovia with an on-goal attempt.
Greg Hartley started in the net for the Blazers recording all 90 minutes not allowing any goals and earning one save. Ayala Alexis started at the net for the Steers and gave up eleven goals while earning four saves.
The Blazers will be back in action tomorrow as they face Lyon College (Ark.) on day two of the Spring Hill College Classic. The Blazers are set to kick off at 3:00 PM in Mobile, AL.
