Hattiesburg, MS- The Belhaven men's soccer team gained another win in their last game of the regular season against William Carey on Saturday night 2-1. The Blazers had a second half surge to putting up two goals to gain their 14th win of the season in a key Southern States Athletic Conference contest.
The first half of Saturday night's match proved to be a stalemate as neither team could break through for a goal. However, it didn't take the Blazers long in the second half to get things started as

Guilherme Sousa for the first goal of the contest in the 46th minute giving the Blazers a 1-0 lead. The Blazers held lead for awhile until William Carey's Tyler Szura put up the Crusaders first goal in the 67th minute evening the score at 1-1. Four minutes later, (71st)
Will Monsour came up with a big goal for the Blazers giving them a 2-1 advantage. Monsour's game winner sealed the win for the Blazers as William Carey failed to slide another shot past Belhaven goalie

William Carey outshot the Blazers 13-9 in the contest, but the Blazers had the biggest tow shots of the night that found the goal. Three Blazers players had two shot attempts apiece, Guilhereme Sousa,
Victor Lawrence, and
Will Monsour. Sousa and Monsour connected for the two Blazers scores. For Sousa, it was his second of the year and for Monsour it was his first game winner and ninth goal overall. Three Crusader players also had three shot attempts apiece in the contest, Forstpointer, Navarro, and Saroli.
Goalie
Greg Hartley picked up his 13th win of the season allowing one goal with four saves. Carl Goody had five saves for the Crusaders but dropped the contest allowing two goals.
Belhaven now finds themselves in third place in the SSAC standings and will now wait to see who they will play in the opening round of the conference tournament on November 5th. Three games remain to be played in the conference on Tuesday when William Carey travels to Southern Poly, Brewton-Parker hosts Truett-McConnell, and Lee goes to Southern Wesleyan. Belhaven will find out who and where they play in the conference tournament on Tuesday night with the opponent and time to be announced following those contests.
