Montgomery, Ala- The Belhaven women's soccer team lost another close contest at Southern States Athletic Conference opponent Faulkner University 1-0 Tuesday night. The loss by the Blazers and a tie by Spring Hill clinch the eighth and final SSAC playoff spot for the Badgers. Belhaven entered Tuesday night's contest in a must win situation to have a shot at the conference tournament.
Faulkner University's (9-6, 6-5 SSAC) Samantha Ruddick turned in the only goal in the contest in the first half while
Jessica Monarch picked up the assist. The Eagles managed to out shoot the Blazers 20-11 in the contest. The Blazers had two shots on goal, but could not get either attempt past goalkeeper Caitlin Sebert.
Christin Kaim and
Rebecca Ontero led the Blazers on offense with three and four shot attempts respectively. Kaim and
Chelsea DeLeon had one shot on goal apiece. Samantha Ruddick led the way for the Eagles with seven shot attempts and the only goal in the match.
Goalie
Nicole Walsh picked up thirteen saves while giving up one goal suffering the loss. Caitlin Sebert gained the win for the Eagles earning two saves.
The Blazers will look to get back on track in their final regular season contest on Saturday at William Carrey. Game time is slated for 5:00 PM.
