Blazers Upended by AUM

Jackson, MS- The Belhaven women's soccer was defeated by Auburn University Montgomery on Tuesday night at H.T. Newell Field in Southern States Athletic Conference action by the final score of 1-0. The Blazers dropped to ninth in the SSAC standings and trail Spring Hill College and Faulkner University by a game for eighth place. The top eight teams make the SSAC conference following the conclusion of the regular season.

Belhaven (6-9-1, 4-6 SSAC) struggled to get the ball into AUM territory Tuesday night attempting only five shots with three on goal. Auburn-Montgomery (8-6, 7-2 SSAC) was able to connect with the only goal of the contest in the 22nd minute. The score was credited to Kristen Mitchell who was set up by Margret Albertsdottir who gained the assist on the play.

Five different Blazers had a shot attempts in Tuesday night's contest; Allison Gray, Morgan Ogale, Nicole Williams, Krista Brizeno and Christin Kaim. Kristen Mitchell of the Warhawks had four shot attempts with one being a goal. Four other Warhawks had two shot attempts a piece with five of those attempts being on goal.  

Nicole Walsh started in the net for the Blazers playing all 90 minutes allowing one goal with three saves. Holly Clarke started in goal for the Warhawks clocking all 90 minutes gaining three saves while picking up her 8th win of the season.

Belhaven will be back in action on Tuesday October 25, 2011 as they take on Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 PM.
