Shreveport, LA- The Belhaven men's soccer team defeated the host school Louisiana State University-Shreveport at their tournament on Saturday night. The Blazers prevailed late in the second half scoring the only goal on the game beating LSUS 1-0. The Blazers outshot the Pilots 22-10 with nine shots on goal.

The only score of the game came from Alex Rodriguez of the Blazers in the 70th minute of the match. For Rodriguez, it was his third goal of the season and his second game winner of year. Rodriguez notched two goals in Belhaven's season opening 2-1 victory against 16th ranked University of Texas-Brownsville last weekend. Rodriguez and Guilherme Brandao had a team high of four shots each with two of Rodriguez's being shots on goal. One of Brandao's shots was on goal. Aaron McLoughlin followed with three shots including two shots on goal. Gautier Troch got the start in net playing all 90 minutes deflecting six saves and bringing his season record to 3-0.

Samuel, Leonardo, Sergio, and Marcos all had two shots each for the Pilots with five of them on goal. Celaya Rogerio started for the LSUS (0-2) turning in two saves and Lance Quini finished the match producing eight saves but gave up the goal suffering the loss.

Belhaven is now 3-0 and will be back in action in Shreveport, LA against Mid-America Christian University at 3:00 PM Monday afternoon.
