Blazers Fall to Christian Brothers University

Jackson, MS- The Belhaven's Women's soccer team was defeated on Saturday night by Christian Brothers University by a final score of 4-1 at H.T. Newell Field. The loss brings the Blazers record on the season to 1-5. The Blazers outshot Christian Brothers University in the game 14-10 with 10 shots on goal while Christian Brothers recorded shots on goal and connected with the back of the net on four of those shots.

Christian Brothers University (3-2) drove in the first goal of the game at the 16:36 mark on a shot off the foot of Libby Hake. The Blazers struck back hardly letting any time expire off the clock getting a goal in the 17th minute off the foot of MaryBeth Webber tying the score at one a piece. Lauren Quionoes assisted Lauren Browning with Christian Brother's second goal on the night at the 23rd minute mark. Christian Brothers struck again in the 26th minute off a corner kick with the assist from Allison Tutt while Lauren Browing connected on another goal for CBU to make it a 3-1 match.

The next goal didn't come till late in the second half at the 84:46 mark by Christian Brothers thanks to Mallory Geraci. The Blazers were led by Webber who on the night had four shots with two on goal. One of the shots found pay dirt for her second score of 2010. Sarai Long got the start in net for the Blazers and made three saves as she suffered the loss. For Christian Brothers Libby Hake started in net recoring nine saves en route to the win.
