Box Score    Video Highlights from WJTV
Jackson, MS-In a battle between two top 25 teams, Belhaven and the University of Mobile battled to a 1-1 double overtime tie in a Southern States Athletic Conference contest Wednesday night at H.T. Newell Field. The Blazers, ranked 9th in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll got the upper hand in the first half only to see Mobile, ranked 11th in the latest poll, tie it up in the second period. Belhaven nearly won it with just under two minutes to play in the second overtime, but Achille Campion's header shot hit the cross bar and the game remained deadlocked.

Belhaven (11-1-1, 0-0-1 SSAC) got their only goal of the night late in the first half when Jose Robles surged up the middle of the field and shot one past Mobile goalie Jason Williams in the 41st minute. It was Robles's first goal of the year and Johnny Hayes, who hit him in stride with the pass, was credited with his second assist of the season.

Mobile (7-1-2, 0-0-1 SSAC) tied the match just over 10 minutes into the second half on a goal by Deshorn Brown. Marc Joseph had the assist after the ball bounced off his leg in traffic to a waiting Brown who knocked it in for the score. The Rams were close to being offside's on the play, but the goal was allowed to stand and it would prove to be the final goal of the night.

Mobile outshot Belhaven 22-11 and kept the ball on the Blazer's end of the field for much of the match. Belhaven goalie Gautier Troch made eight saves as he was kept on his toes by an aggressive and quick Mobile offense. Campion unloaded a team high three shots for Belhaven including the near game winner in the second overtime. Brown and Onesimus Ikungo each had six shots for Mobile. Williams made three saves for the Rams in Wednesday night's match.

Belhaven will take the field again on Saturday October 16th when they travel to Spring Hill College for an SSAC showdown with the Badgers. The kickoff is slated for 3:30 PM. Highlights of the Belhaven and Mobile match courtesy of WJTV's Jason Hurst can be viewed by click here.
