Jackson, MS- The Belhaven women's soccer team hosted Faulkner University at H.T. Newell Field Tuesday night losing 3-2 in overtime in Southern States Athletic Conference action. The loss brings the Blazers season record to 1-12-1 overall and 0-4 in SSAC play. The Eagles (13-3-1, SSAC 2-1-1) outshot the Blazers 17-13 with nine of their shots on goal while the Blazers managed seven shots on goal.
The opening period Tuesday night was evenly matched as each team scored a goal. Faulkner's goal came off the foot of Samantha Ruddick in the 33rd minute with an assist by
Jessica Monarch.
Christin Kaim evened things up at 1-1 with nine seconds to go in the first half on her fourth goal of the season sending Belhaven into the locker room at halftime with the momentum.
Casie Wilcox scored the first goal of the second half and her third of the season for Faulkner in the 73rd minute. Shelly Giebeig assisted on the score that gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Belhaven's
Allison Gray then countered the Eagles goal with one of her own in the 82nd minute to tie the game at 2-2. For Gray, it was her goal of 2010 that deflected off an Eagle defender into the back of the net. At the end of regulation the score was knotted at 2-2 leading to sudden death overtime. However, overtime play only lasted 26 seconds as Latoya Panton scored Faulkner's winning goal with an assist from Sidney Long to give the Eagles a 3-2 win.

Christin Kaim who had four shots and a goal.
Sarai Long got the start in the net for the Blazers playing all 90 minutes with with six saves. The loss drops Long's record in goal to 1-5-1 in 2010.
Samantha Ruddick led the Eagles on offense shooting five shots including one goal. Caitlin Sebert started at goal keeper for the Eagles playing the entire game while coming up with five saves improving her record to 6-2 this season.
