24th Ranked AUM Handles Belhaven Tuesday Afternoon

Montgomery, AL- The Belhaven women's soccer team was defeated on the road by Auburn University Montgomery in a Southern States Athletic Conference contest Tuesday afternoon 5-0. The loss brings the Blazers season record to 1-11-1 and their conference record to 0-3.

Auburn University Montgomery (10-4, 2-0) outshot the Blazers twenty five to six with eleven shots on goal while the Blazers totaled just two shots on goal. AUM's first goal came in the first half in the 12th minute off the foot of Franklinsdottir assisted by Tomasdottir. AUM's next four goals all came in the second half after Belhaven played hard to keep it close in the first 45 minutes.

Heather Welch drove in AUM's next goal in the opening minute of the second half and was assisted by Tschana Wade. Tschana Wade then got her first goal of the game in the 47th minute. AUM's last two goals came midway through the second half in the 67th and 69th minute off the feet of K.C. Hewitt and Amber Elam.

MaryBeth Webber led the Blazers shooting three total shots including one shot on goal. Kelli Brewer got the start in net for the Blazers and played just under 70 minutes turning in four saves. Sari Long finished the game for the Blazers grabbing two saves while Brewer suffers the loss dropping her season record to 0-7. Daisy Brumfield received the start in the net for AUM and she made two saves bringing her season record to 10-3.

The Blazers will return home to H.T. Newell Field on Tuesday October 26 at 5:00 PM to take on Faulkner University in another Southern States Athletic Conference showdown. Fans can follow the action through live stats which can be viewed by clicking here.
