Mobile, Al- The Belhaven women's soccer team lost Saturday afternoon at Spring Hill College 4-1 in their second Southern States Athletic Conference game of the season. The Blazers are now 1-10-1 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
Spring Hill College (5-9, 1-1) outshot the Blazers seventeen to thirteen with seven shots on goal while the Blazers tallied four shots on goal. Both teams battled to a stalemate in the 45 minutes as the game went to halftime at 0-0. In the opening minute of the second half the Badgers kicked in the first goal of the game off the foot of Jade Benson who was assisted by Erin Murphy.
The Badgers drove in their next goal off a penalty kick from Molly Cowley in the 66th minute. Allison Akers scored Spring Hill's next goal in the 73rd minute off an assist by Alexandra Collier. The Blazers turned in their only goal of the match in the 79th minute thanks to MaryBeth Webber's third goal of the season. The Badgers then rounded of the game in the 88th minute with a kick that reached the back of the net by Shelby Sullivan with Savanna Sablich garnering the assist.
The Blazers were led by MaryBeth Webber and
Krista Brizeno with five shots each. Webber fired two shots on goal scoring one while Brizeno attempted one shot on goal.
Kelli Brewer got the start in net playing all 90 minutes. She came up with three saves bringing her season record to 0-6. The Badger's Cassandra Amore got the start in net clocking in all 90 minutes. Amore made three saves bringing her season record to 5-9.
