Pineville, LA-The Belhaven women's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 victory at Louisiana College (0-4) Tuesday in a match that the Lady Blazers controlled from the early moments of the game.
Nicole Trawick turned in a hat trick with two of her goals coming within the first seven minutes of the contest.
It didn't take the Lady Blazers (2-1) long to get on the scoreboard when Kristin Kaim found the back of the net 39 seconds into the match for her first goal of the season.
Sarah Benson was credited with her first assist in 2009 on the play. Belhaven would strike again in the fourth minute on Trawick's first goal of the game when she got the ball over the outstretched arms of Lady Wildcat goalkeeper Emily Breaux to make it 2-0 Belhaven.
Two minutes later Trawick struck pay dirt again as she blasted the ball by Breaux for her second score of the game and just like that the Lady Blazers owned a 3-0 advantage. Belhaven tacked on one more goal before halftime on
Katie Miller's first goal of the season and at that point the Lady Blazers led 4-0.
In the second half, Kaim and Trawick both added a goal each to their total and with just under 30 minutes to go in the match the Lady Blazers had a commanding 6-0 lead. Not only did Belhaven dominate on the offensive side of the ball, but defensively the Lady Blazers kept Louisiana College away from the net. Sarai Long did not need to make a save in the contest. Eggold got the start and the win to go to 2-1 on the season in net.
Trawick now has five goals on the season and has 10 points in the first three matches. Trawick has 17 shots with 10 being on goal which also paces the team. With her two goals on Tuesday, Kaim is second on the team with two scores and four points in 2009.
Belhaven will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Texas College beginning at 3:00 PM at H.T. Newell Field.
