Jackson, MS-After defeating NCAA Division II Delta State Wednesday night, the Belhaven men's soccer team came out victorious once more as they picked up a huge win in overtime Saturday afternoon against 18
th ranked Martin Methodist at H.T. Newell Field.
Martin Methodist opened the scoring when Andrew Gordan was able to get a shot past senior goalkeeper
Zach Wallace to make it 1-0 in the 18th minute. The Blazers tightened up there defense and kept the RedHawks off the board for the remainder of the first half and the rest of the game.
Each team continued to play solid defense throughout the second half as the Blazers were held to six shots and Martin Methodist only had four shots. However, the RedHawks defensive could not stop the Blazers from scoring. Belhaven got on the board in the 77th minute of the game as junior
Matt Clifton scored his first goal for the season with a free kick to tie the score 1-1 and launch the match to overtime.

Stefan Fernandez as he out hustled the RedHawks defense and scored on Martin Methodist senior goalkeeper Hunter Jamison to win the game 2-1. The game winner by Fernandez was his first goal of the season. As a team, Belhaven outshot Martin Methodist 17-9 in what proved to be a very physical contest. Both teams committed a combined 33 fouls in the match.

Zach Wallace earned his fifth win of the season making two saves as the Blazers now stand at 5-2-1 on the season. Belhaven will return home to face Lambuth University at H.T. Newell field Tuesday evening beginning at 5:00 PM.
