Lady Blazers Record another Shutout in Win over Delta State

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven women's soccer team held an opponent scoreless for the fifth straight time in route to a 1-0 win over NCAA Division II Delta State University on a rainy Wednesday evening at H.T. Newell Field. The Lady Blazers have only given up a goal in one match this year which was their season opening loss to NCAA Division I University of Louisiana-Monroe.
 
Belhaven's (4-1-1) only goal of the night came off the foot of Nicole Trawick with just over 30 minutes gone by in the first period. Trawick broke away from the defense and blasted the ball past Lady Statesman goalkeeper Samantha LeJeune. For Trawick, it was her team leading seventh goal of the season and the score also increased her point total to 14 in 2009.
 
Jessica Eggold had a save and earned her fourth win in net which recording her fifth straight shutout this season. Overall, the Lady Blazer defense had another outstanding performance holding Delta State (2-3) to just three shots in the match with only one being on goal. The Lady Statesman did not attempt a shot in the first half. Belhaven recorded a total of 16 shots with six of them being on goal.
 
The Lady Blazers return to action this weekend beginning on Friday with a match against Martin Methodist College and then on Saturday Belhaven will battle Bethel College (TN). Both contests are scheduled to get underway at 2:00 PM and both will played on the campus of Bethel College (TN) in McKenzie, TN.
