Jackson, MS-The Belhaven women's soccer team defeated Texas College with a 2-0 victory at H.T. Newell Field on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Lady Blazers defense dominated Texas College throughout the game. Belhaven improves their record to 3-1 on the season with the victory over the Lady Steers.

 

In the first period, the Lady Blazers jumped on the scoreboard quickly as senior Dana Sullivan setup sophomore Christin Kaim with the first goal of the game in the first three minutes of the contest. Kaim picks up her third goal of the season and Dana Sullivan earns her first assist of the year. Belhaven played excellent defense as they held the Lady Steers to one shot during the entire contest. The Lady Blazers kept possession of the ball on Texas College's end of the field and took a total of 19 shots in the first period.

 

In the second period of the contest, Belhaven continued to keep possession of the ball and took a total of 11 shots. Texas College began to play more aggressive defense but it wasn't enough as senior Nicole Trawick scored in the 76^th minute of the game to give the Lady Blazers a 2-0 lead over Texas College. After a having a great game last week, Trawick continues to play well as she leads the Lady Blazers with a total of six goals and 12 points on the season. Trawick has 23 shots with 12 being on goal which also paces the team. Once again junior goalkeeper Jessica Eggold got the start and the win to go to 3-0 on the season in net. 

 

Belhaven will travel to cross town rival Millsaps College for a showdown with the Lady Majors on Friday night. The match is set to begin at 8:00 PM.
