Jackson, MS-The Belhaven men's and women's tennis teams both lost in the semifinals of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday in Mobile, Alabama as both teams seasons come to a close.
The Lady Blazers opened the day with a 6-3 match victory over Tougaloo College but were then eliminated on the semifinals by top seeded Xavier University 7-0.
Neely Johnson,
Kristen Kelly, and Mary Khris Young had solo match victories against the Lady Bulldogs. Belhaven swept the doubles matches on Friday morning against Tougaloo. Belhaven's season ends with an overall record of 8-11.
The Belhaven men drew an opening round bye in the tournament and were matched up against the University of Mobile in the semifinals. The Blazers lost to the Rams by a final of 5-1.
Henry Mandell and
Gabriel Prado scored the only point for Belhaven in a doubles victory over Guilherme Lorencon and Ale Vial. The Blazers conclude 2009 with an overall record of 6-12.
