Hattiesburg, Miss.- The Belhaven men's soccer team can not only celebrate their number 23 ranking in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll, but also one of the biggest wins in the programs history. The Blazers opened up league play on the road Tuesday night by upsetting 15
th ranked William Carey University (2-1-1) in a 1-0 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference decision.
Sergei Yepishin scored his third goal in two games which proved to be all the Blazers needed to secure the win and extend Belhaven's winning streak to four in a row. Yepishin found the back of the net in the thirty second minute off a rebound to put Belhaven on top. It was Yepishin's fourth goal of the season, which ties him for the team lead with
Juan Rodriguez.
Zach Wallace had six saves in net for the Blazers to keep William Carey off the board.
Overall, Belhaven's record improves to 5-0-1 and 1-0 in GCAC action. The Blazers take the field again this coming Saturday afternoon when they go on the road to face the University of Alabama-Huntsville for a 1 PM start.
