Lady Blazers Take out LSU-Shreveport

Shreveport, LA-The Belhaven women's soccer team controlled the Lady Pilots of LSU-Shreveport Saturday afternoon 2-0. Belhaven College improved their record to 9-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The Lady Pilots record falls to an overall mark of 7-7 and 2-5 in conference play.
                                        
The Lady Blazers would score one goal in each half as Nicole Trawick found the back of the net first in the 39th minute to put Belhaven on top 1-0. Trawick now has eight goals on the season along with Dana Sullivan. The Lady Blazers then put the game away in the 85th minute as Krista Brizeno connected on her third goal of 2008. The assist on the play was credited to Julie Hampton, which was her first of the year.
 
Belhaven peppered the net with 22 total shots including 10 on goal. The Lady Blazers were consistently on the LSU-Shreveport side of the field especially in the first half. Belhaven's defense allowed just five shots by the Lady Pilots the entire game with only two shots on goal. Defensively, Goalkeeper Kritsin Parson made two saves in the match for Belhaven.
 
The Lady Blazers are back in action Saturday night as they face the Lady Rams of the University of Mobile in Mobile, AL. The match is slated for 7 PM.
