Lady Blazers Drop first Match of the Season

, MS-It was a tough night for the Belhaven women's soccer team as they suffered their first loss of the season to cross-town rival Millsaps 3-2. The Lady Majors got on the board first in the 8th minute of play when Jessica Harris knocked it in of an assist from Bobbi Jones to make it 1-0. The Lady Blazers would answer in the 29th minute as Evelyn Torres found an opening in the bottom left corner of the net to tie the score at 1-1. It was the fourth goal of the season for Torres and the score would remain tied for the remainder of the half.
 
Millsaps would draw first blood in the second half on a goal in the 51st minute by Meredith Harris. Trailing by one, Belhaven took advantage of a penalty kick as Dana Sullivan connected on her fourth goal of the year to tie the game at 2-2 in the 83rd minute. However, the Lady Majors would regain the lead for good two and a half minutes later on a free kick goal of the foot of Meredith Harris from 40 yards away to secure the win for Millsaps.
 
With the loss, Belhaven suffers their first setback of the season to fall to 5-1. The Lady Majors remain unbeaten on the year as their record now stands at 7-0. Belhaven returns to action Wednesday evening when they host Lambuth. The match is set to get underway at 6.
