Mobile, AL- The women's soccer team gets back on track after upsetting Spring Hill College in double overtime 3-2. The Lady Blazers improve their record to 8-5-1 and 1-3 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference with the victory over the Lady Badgers. Spring Hill drops to 10-4 on the season and 2-3 in the GCAC.
The Lady Badgers took an early lead in the game as Kasey Pruett scored a goal in the 21
st minute of the first half. It didn't take the Lady Blazers long to answer back, as
Dana Sullivan scored their first goal in the 44
th minute to tie the score at 1-1. It was
Dana Sullivan's seventh goal of the season. In the 53
rd minute, Sarah Engels put the Lady Badgers back on top in the 53 minute as Spring Hill went ahead 2-1. Kristin Kaim answered back for Belhaven with a goal in the 54
th minute to tie the match and send it into overtime.
The first overtime of the game remained scoreless and sent the match into double overtime. In the second overtime, the Lady Blazers defense was solid. They held the Lady Badgers to only two shots.
Sarah Benson scored the winning goal for the Lady Blazers in the 102
nd minute of the game.
The Lady Blazers will hit the road and head to Hattiesburg, MS to face the Lady Crusaders of William Carey University on Tuesday night. The match is set to begin at 7.
