Mobile, AL-The sixth ranked Belhaven men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday nigh at the University of Mobile 3-1. Tuesday's setback ended a 12 game winning streak dating back to August 30
th when they battled to a scoreless tie with Covenant College 1-1. The Blazers fall to 13-1-1 on the season and 1-1 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play. The Rams improved their record to 7-4-2 overall and 1-1 in GCAC play.
Mobile would strike first with a goal off the foot of Matt Watts 17 minutes into the game.
Juan Rodriguez would answer for the Blazers in minute 33 with his team leading 14
th goal of the season. David Mckay picked up the assist which was his third on the year. The score remained tied at 1-1 as heading into halftime.
The second half was all Mobile as Geert Slits broke the one all tie with a goal in the 65th minute of action. Mohammed Habibzi would seal the victory for the Ram's in the 73rd minute when he found the back of the net to make the score 3-1. Slits got the assist as he had a hand in two of the three Mobile goals.
Belhaven goalkeeper
Zach Wallace made five saves while Mobile's Goalkeeper Jason Williams turned away four Blazer shots. The Rams aggressive offense fired 17 shots with eight of those being on goal in Tuesday's match. Belhaven mustered eight total shots with five shots on goal.
Belhaven will try and regroup Saturday as they hit the road for another GCAC match at Spring Hill College. The kickoff is slated for 5 PM.
